Abstract: This preprint examines climate change reporting in The Guardian between 2010 and 2025. Using a validated large-language-model approach, the paper analyzes 18,785 articles and evaluates coverage of scientifically grounded causes, impacts, mitigation strategies, and adaptation measures. It finds that climate coverage increased sharply after 2018 and stayed elevated. Reporting on causes and mitigation is dominated by fossil fuels and renewable energy, while themes such as agriculture, overconsumption, carbon inequality, economic growth, and adaptation receive less attention. The paper highlights ways climate journalism could more fully reflect the range of transformations involved in addressing climate change.
